I left Anchorage this morning to the usual weather conditions...45 degrees and raining. Not to complain, but of 14 days I've spent in Alaska, it's rained on 11 of them. Good thing I have all that waterproof clothing.
I headed northeast on Hwy 1, the Glenn Highway to the town of Glenallen, about 150 miles up the road. Even with the weather being what it was, I did manage to get some pics along the way:
These were between Anchorage and Glenallen:
Matanuska Glacier lies about 50 miles south of Glenallen and is visible from the highway. The glacier itself is 27 miles long by 4 miles wide and flows about one foot/day. It is the largest glacier in Alaska accessable by car. Here are a couple pictures I got between rain showers:
The rest of the way to Tok was uneventful, even though the road conditions got a lot more interesting. Tomorrow, I'm headed into Canada for Haines Junction, Yukon Territory.
