Day 23, August 3...Fairbanks, AK

The rain let up a bit today and I got out and rode around the city for a while.  I went up to the University of Alaska to visit the Museum of the North.  It is housed in a beautiful building on the University campus:

And when you enter the museum, you're greeted by Otto the Bear, a Grizzly that weighed over 1200 lbs:

The Museum was interesting, if a bit smaller than I remembered.  Most of the exhibits dealt with the native populations in one way or another.  Here are a few pictures I took inside the museum:

A Mastodon:

The skull of a  Baleen Whale:

A whaling harpoon:

And a kayak about 100 years old:

There are a couple more things I'll be looking at tomorrow, and then on Saturday, it's down to Anchorage.

Miles today:  27
Total:         5,864
