Day 30, August 10...In Anchorage for the day

Quiet day today.  When I had the bike over at the HD dealer on Tuesday, they had mentioned that the rear tire had some wear on it.  I looked at it and figured it had a few miles left, but, as usual, I realized I'd be obsessing about that tire until I got it changed out. So, over to the Harley dealer here in Anchorage and five hours (!) later I had a new rear tire.  Real pretty one, too.  Now, at least, I don't have to be obsessing about the tire as I'm rolling down the Alaska Hiway in the middle of nowhere.

That was about it for the day.  It rained some off and on and the next week or so is calling for scattered rain almost every day.

Tomorrow, I'm headed to Homer, Alaska, at the southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula.  Homer is the farthest west you can travel by road in North America, and the Kenai Peninsula is supposed to be very scenic.  I didn't get there in 2010, so I don't want to miss it this time.  I'll be spending the night in Soldatna, about 90 miles north of Homer on the Peninsula.  Hopefully, I'll have lots of pics tomorrow.

Miles today:  28
Total:        6,816
