There was a lot of information about his life and his presidency. He grew up on a farm, served as an artillery officer in France during WWI, was a pretty unsuccessful businessman, got his start in politics as a county commissioner, and was elected to the US Senate in 1932. He was elected as FDR's Vice President in 1944, and became President when FDR died in 1945. And, his presidency has withstood the test of time. I liked this quote from his Independence Day address in 1947:
